Welcome

Thanks for taking the time to visit Monterey Art and Antiques/Berkshiregallery.com . We hope the experience is pleasing and informative. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Neil McGinnis has been buying and selling art and antiques in the Berkshires since 1977. Over the years he's had shops in Housatonic, Great Barrington, North Egremont, and currently in Monterey MA. An early interest was furniture owing in part to his ancestry of Danish cabinetmakers. Neil has done shows all over the east coast including Brimfield, the Rhinebeck Antique Show, Scotts in Atlanta, Hildene in Vermont, and Renningers in Mt. Dora FL. Neil is also a member of the Monterey Cultural Council.

Presently, the purchase of two artists estates has fueled a passion to concentrate on art. A large and diverse inventory includes pieces in oil, watercolor, casein, pencil, charcoal and other mediums. Kalman Oswald (1888-1975) who was born in Erzi, Hungary and died in Monterey MA. is one of our main artists in stock. His work ranges from landscapes to still lifes to fine portraits, especially of his wife Helmi. Sam Lewis Rand (born Sam Goldberg, 1910-1997) is our other predominant artist. Sam taught art in New York's Harlem and painted in casein and watercolor.

Monterey Art and Antiques is located in a beautiful restored early 19th century barn in (you guessed it) the lovely village of Monterey MA.. We're open 11am to 5pm Thursday thru Sunday from May 1st to Nov. I'd be delighted to meet by appointment any other time.

ARS LONGA VITA BREVIS,

Neil
